According to the new laws formed by the US Government, people who have deposited their tax in the year 2007 and other eligible persons. According to this new law, every adult eligible US citizen would get a minimum amount what they have deposited as tax in the year 2007. These rebate checks are expected to be delivered to the US citizens anytime now. This is one side of the picture, the other side being the threat posed by the ID thieves. Theft of identity has already become the fastest growing crime in the United States and they have already duped thousands of people by stealing several thousands of dollars through misuse of credit cards.     

With the expected arrival of the IRS rebate checks within next couple of months and there is a tailor made situation for the ID thieves to steal these checks from your mailbox. Any experienced ID thief will be able to tell about when your check is coming and if you are not well prepared or you do not have a secure lock on your mailbox it might be broken and ID thieves will try to get their hands on as many of IRS rebate checks as they can, so that afterwards they can try to encash them. This is a golden opportunity for the ID thieves where they know that checks are being sent to everybody by the US government and they can capitalize on the situation at their will.


Armed with enough identifying information about a person, an identity thief can take over that individual’s identity and try to cash the IRS rebate checks being given by the US Government.
